Carryduff Primary is located in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of South Belfast. It is a vibrant and friendly school that caters to children from both the local area and further afield. We welcome children from all religious and cultural backgrounds. We set high standards and have high expectations of everyone in our school community. The school has an excellent reputation for academic achievement; however, it also recognises the importance of sport, the arts, and pastoral care.
The school has approximately 190 pupils across nine classes. With refurbished facilities, it is well-equipped to deliver the Northern Ireland Curriculum in stimulating and spacious accommodation. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular clubs for its Primary 1 to Primary 7 pupils. Parents greatly appreciate the WrapAround pre-school and after-school care available on-site.
We understand that parental support is key to a successful school career. We welcome parents to many events throughout the year and keep them regularly updated on school life. We adopt an open-door policy and promote the sharing of information.
At Carryduff Primary, pastoral care is very important. The school has a family atmosphere, and every child is known and valued by all the staff. We strive to ensure our pupils are happy and confident. While we nurture them, we also aim to develop their independence.
The school operates two Social Communication Unit classes that aim to support pupils with a variety of social and communication difficulties associated with autism.
The highly structured learning environment supports up to eight pupils per class, with a teacher and two classroom assistants. These pupils follow all areas of the curriculum, with a specific emphasis on developing the social and communication skills necessary for each pupil to reach their full potential. Integration into school life and mainstream classes is encouraged as and when the individual pupil is ready.
